Welcome to another blog! Today we are talking about the quiet and scary thing called anxiety. Now, as a person who suffers from anxiety…more specifically social anxiety…I cannot begin to say I have all the answers to never experience anxiety again.
But, I have learned a few tips along the way when it comes to dealing with anxiety in a calm and efficient way as to not let it disrupt your entire day.
Before the tips, I would like to quickly mention tapping. I have to be honest I haven’t done it yet (Mother if you are reading, I swear I will get on that) but my mother has experienced anxiety and she claims it has pretty much solved the problem. So…if you are interested in that here is a link: Tap You Anxiety Away. Just wanted to add this…as it is a resource that may work for you!
Now onto the tips! (Keep in mind this isn’t just for you. If a friend is experiencing anxiety, helping them remember these tips might help out the situation.)
5 Ways to Kick Anxiety’s Butt:
1.Deep Breathes. Yep. A simple yet effective tip. Deep breathing gives a boost of oxygen to the parasympathetic system which gives the body a sense of calmness. Doing about 20 minutes of this every morning can help prevent an anxiety attack…however, it is a good way to calm down during one.
2.Exercise. DON’T CLICK OFF YET. When I say exercise, I don’t mean you have to go run a marathon. I am merely suggesting you keep your body moving. A little yoga, a walk around the block. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Simple things to get your circulation going. Exercise can help educe endorphins which in turn can help the anxiety.
3.Essential Oils. I am not one of those people who think essential oils will solve everything but I do notice when I am wearing the right ones on my essential oil bracelet…I feel a bit calmer. If you want to read more I posted a blog about Which Essential Oil is Right for You?
4.Eat more fresh food. While, yes, a perfect diet would certainly help…that is not what I am suggesting. Just simply adding more fresh produce to your diet can help in preventing and reducing anxiety. The fuel we put into our body will effect how efficiently we run. 🙂 Here are some foods to consider if you have anxiety. (Or if you are hungry.)
5.Take a moment to validate and target your feelings. Judging yourself for having anxiety is just going to make it worse. Take a moment to allow yourself to feel all the feelings. When you think you can…try to jot down where you felt anxiety and why. What was your trigger. Becoming self-accepting as well as self-aware are a great first step to healing.
That is all for today you guys! I hope you all have a happy and healthy Wellness Wednesday! Remember that taking care of yourself is not a selfish thing. To take care of others you need to be well and happy! See you all Friday! Lots of love!
