I have a huge appetite for a big life…but to get there I have to face all the little goals I have to accomplish to get there. Planning what I am going to do is a huge and overwhelming task in and of itself at times.
BUT, we are not going to let that stop us. I am going to show you how I like to break down my goals…by….breaking down my goals here on the blog. With that being said…let’s get started.
Step 1: What Even Are Your Goals?
The first step into breaking down your goals is…knowing what they are. Having a general direction is great. For example: I want to be healthy. That’s a great start. But to make it more attainable, we want a measurable and tangible goal. An example is: I want to be able to run a mile in under 8 minutes by December 1. This a a great way to measure what you think being healthy entails.
Now that we have that established, here are my top three goals:
- By February 23, 2020 I want to be 150lbs.
- By November 11, 2019 I want to get my A1C (A measurement of average blood sugars for Type One diabetes) down to 7-8 range.
- I want to own and completely renovate a van in 2020.
I have a time range/date and the end goal in mind. That’s the end of Step 1. Easy enough.
Step 2: Make a “Vague” To-do List for Each Goal:
Goal 1: By February 23, 2020 I want to be 150lbs:
- Figure out calorie deficit
- Meal Prep
- Create Workout Plan
- Track Food and Exercise
- Cut Out Fast Foods and “Fast Carbs”
- Don’t drink my calories (Cut out sugary drinks…smoothies are cool! 🙂
- Break down into little dates
Goal 2: By November 11, 2019 I want to get my A1C (A measurement of average blood sugars for Type One diabetes) down to 7-8 range.
- Get sensor.
- Track bloog sugars.
- Test before each meal and bed.
- Fast acting insulin BEFORE you eat.
- Tujeo 30 units before bed.
Goal Three: I want to own and completely renovate a van in 2020.
- Get Loan.
- Research vans.
- Buy van.
- Get supplies.
- Research renovations.
- Bribe Dad to help me.
- The build.
Step 3: Break Down To-Do List into Specific Steps & Make a Schedule:
Okay, so this would be a very long blog if I did all my goals on here so I will just break down Goal 1: By February 23, 2020 I want to be 150lbs.
That is all for today you guys! I hope this is useful to some of you…I know it helped me out a lot when I discovered a way to manage my goals instead of just throwing myself into it. I will see you all Monday for a very special “Happy Birthday for Dad!”
